crazy busy summer

Hey all... As you probably figured out I took a nice long break from blogging and the computer in general (Natalie wink wink). It was really cathartic and your going to laugh at me but I read a book. A book y'all!!  I haven't been able to get through an entire book since the babe was born. A friend of mine and I joke that getting through a magazine is or was the equivalent to reading a book these days :).

But in all honesty after Revival which was, no lie y'all, 106 degrees that weekend. I needed to recuperate. We all did. It was a good show but boy it was so hot and draining.I do want to thank all the people that came out regardless of the heat. And also a big thanks to all the gals that came to hear me speak at my workshop. You all made it so worth while!! And of course my booth mates Tiffin and Jenni I wouldn't have wanted to be with any other girls :)

And after it was all said and done summer became really busy. But more of that soon to come. Here are some pics of Revival. Thanks to my mom in law for taking the photos (I forgot my camera due to heat brain) and I grabbed one from Jenni's blog of all of us.

we were so so hot but what saved us all were these wet towels called Frog Toggs.

Love that I was able to bring vintage clothing to the show. And it was a big hit :)

The Revival

I am so excited about this weekend I am going to be a part of the Vintage Revival show. It is a new show/festival that the city of Atlanta really needed to have. It is something quite special. I am super excited as well as a bit terrified to be speaking at one of six work shops thru out the day. My workshop will be on how to find and wear vintage clothing and jewelry. Not only will I have my jewelry there but an array of vintage clothing, shoes, hats, and purses. So if you are in the Atlanta area this weekend come by and say hi!!
oh I have got so much more to bring :)

I love how this table turned out. I thought how cool would it be to attach a vintage
tray to it and make it a chalk board. Swoon!

Road Trip Memories

Just about an hour south from us is this amazing place called Callaway Gardens. And a couple weekends ago we thought lets take a little road trip so we packed a lunch and headed south. K used to go as a child and so did I. We have so many fun memories of Callaway and we want our little guy to make his own memories now.
So there are a ton of things to do. Trails to hike, camping, and a great lake with a sandy beach. But my most favorite is the Butterfly House. It is a giant glass green house with the most beautiful flowers and butterflies. They fly around you and if you are lucky they will sometimes land on you. Which is the bees knees. I snapped a ton of pictures of our day and I have some to share so hope you enjoy them. xo

when I spied this little snail I just gasped!! How amazing!! I wanted to invite him over for tea :)

he wanted to jump in with the fish :)

This butterfly was so hard to photograph. When it was flying its wings looked like tissue paper. So beautiful!!

These were the most amazing flowers.

so beautiful!

lovely thread and a custom order

When I do shows I always get asked, "do you do custom orders? I have a ton of my mother or grandmothers jewelry and I don't know what to do with it. Can you make me a custom piece?" And you will always hear me say YES!! of course I love doing custom pieces. One because it gives me a challenge and two because that piece means so much more to my customer. It is personal, meaningful, and nostalgic. And I love to see their faces when I have created something that they can wear and enjoy.

I just recently did a big custom order for a client whose grandmother past away. She was an avid sewer and collected an array of thread. She was 97 years old when she past and left quite a legacy I was told. So I was really excited to take on this challenge. I was given 11 spools of thread in several different colors and a bag of her favorite buttons. I was so excited to get to create something special and unique for all the women in her family. The necklaces were going to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Each necklace consisted of one spool of thread, a button, and a vintage key. I think they turned out fantastic and when my customer came to pick them up she was so excited with how they turned out. Which in turn made me super happy that she was happy :). It meant a lot to me to be able to create such personal pieces for her and all of her family members.

a lovely nest

I happened to notice that everytime we opened our front door a little bird would quickly swoosh by me. I was perplexed because we have a tiny front entry and I was like, where the heck could this little bird be nesting. Well, upon some inspection of our vintage watering can I spied five tiny white speckled eggs. And then I quietly squealed because we are going to have babies soon. :) Mamma bird was so kind to let me snap some pictures. I honestly think she likes us. I say that because she rarely flies out of her nest when we walk out the door now. And when we look inside at the nest to check on her and the eggs she doesn't leave. So I think she is happy in her lovely little nest and soon I hope we will have chirping little babies.
Her lovely watercan nest :)

oh ya and the hubs has named her Mrs. Cublebatch. Cracks me up! :)

They are way up in there but you can see 3 eggs from this view.

Acworth Arts Festival

Wow, I just realized that it has been a week since I participated at the Acworth Arts Festival. I think it took me a week to recover :) It was a lot of fun but it was a lot of work too. We had a great crowd on Saturday and I thank each and everyone of y'all who came out and took a piece of joyajewelry home with you. Sunday, well let's just say it was really great that I had my pal jenni next to me, a wine bar behind my booth supplying us with a bit a vino through out the day, and great weather because it was slow, slow, slow. It really baffled us all but that is the way festivals are sometimes. But no worries, if I have one satisfied and elated customer that truly loves my stuff it makes me happy. I did a custom piece for a gal on Saturday and she came by Sunday to tell me about all the compliments she got that night when she went out with friends. To see her face light up with jewelry love made my weekend and it reminds me why it is I do what I do. Though with that said I may be taking a bit of a break from Festivals. I will always do my local Shakerag Fest but trying to juggle family aka a 2 year old and doing festivals is really a challenge. I need to give etsy more love, be in more stores, and do some more home parties like I used to. We shall see, but thanks to you all for coming on this journey with me it means the world to me. xoxo
